Was the 'Islamic Golden Age' Persian?
It was multi-ethnic and multilingual, but a very large share of its leading figures — Khwarizmi, Razi, Ibn Sina, Biruni, Tusi, Khayyam — were Iranian, and much of the patronage came from Persian courts at Bukhara, Rayy, Isfahan and Maragheh.
Did Persian astronomy influence Copernicus?
The 'Tusi couple', a geometric device from the Maragheh school, appears in Copernicus's work; the transmission route is debated but the mathematical identity is not.
What calendar did Khayyam design?
The Jalali calendar (1079), whose solar year is accurate to about one day in 5,000 years — more precise than the Gregorian.
